1st OPTIMAL Workshop held at University of Sheffield, Sheffield
the 1st OPTIMAL Workshop was held at the University of Sheffield, Sheffield, Uk on Friday 14th June 2024. The workshop began with Dr.Eni Oko (NCL) giving a keynote speech on Research on Hydrogen transportation and storage. Dr Eni Oko (NCL) then chaired the first session. Three early stage researchers (ESR) gave 10mins presentation each on their respective research. Xin Xiong from SEU gave a presentation on Optimal scheduling of integrated energy systems considering closed-loop dynamic tracking performances. Xianchao Chen from SEU gave a presentation on the topic on “Integration and capacity optimization of molten-salt heat storage in coal-fired power plant with carbon capture system”. Both ESR are currently on secondment to NCL. Yiran Dong from NCL gave presentation on the topic “Online process monitoring through integration of joint recurrence plot and convolutional neutral networks”. After each presentation, the ESR were asked questions which they answered respectively.
Dr. Toluleke Akinola (USFD) chaired the second session. During this session, Cheng Zheng from SEU gave a 10 mins presentation on the topic “Deep reinforcement learning based intelligent scheduling of low-carbon energy system for ethylene industry considering uncertainty of renewable energy”. Yihan Yin from HNU gave a presentation on “Experiment and simulation of CO2 capture by amine solution in Hollow fiber membrane contactor (from 2D to 3D model). Both ESR are currently on secondment to USFD. Yao Zhang from USFD gave a presentation on “Modelling, simulation, performance analysis of steam and CO2 as diluents for ethylene manufacturing”. After each presentation, the ESR were asked questions which they answered respectively.
Dr. Yuxing Ding (ECUST) chaired the third session. During this session, Ma Jin from ECUST gave a 10 mins presentation on Hybrid modelling based on moder order reduction and machine learning, and its application for thermal cracking furnace. Ma Jin is currently seconded to USFD. Yuhui Jin from SEU gave a presentation on “Scheduling strategy design of Multi-energy integrated energy system considering Source-Net-Load coupling”. After each presentation, the ESR were asked questions which they answered respectively.
Prof Meihong Wang thanked all attendees for their time and ended the Workshop
