Traveling to the city

Sheffield does not have a local airport. However, Manchester Airport is a reasonable distance away with regular international flights.

On the image to the left, you will see:

The School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences [red circle].
The city train station [red square].
The city bus interchange [red rectangle].

The distance between (1) and (2) is a 20-25 mins walk. Alternatively, take the blue tram direct in 10 minutes.

For people driving:

If you are booked into accommodation by the organisers, you can secure a parking permit from them.
If you are securing your own accommodation, you will need to liaise with your chosen hotel regarding parking.

Hicks Lecture Hall Block (South Entrance)

All meetings will take place in the lecture hall block by the southern entrance to the Hicks Building. On the left hand image you will see:

The Hicks Building, home of the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences [Red Box].
The entrance to the lecture theatre block where the events will be help [Red Arrow].
The University tram stop (from the city train station via the blue line) [Red Circle].

Unless stated otherwise, the lecture components of meetings will take place in Hicks LTC. The capacity of this room is 107. The room has all the usual amenities, specifically including:

4x wide chalkboards on rollers.
1xPC/cables for laptops.
1xVisualiser.
2xProjectors (one centre and one on left).
Chalkboard recording via a wall mounted camera at the back of the hall.

Unless stated otherwise, the catering components of meetings will take place in Hicks LTB (across the hall from the above hall). This room will be set up for catering (i.e. tables and chairs moved to sides).

Facilities

Bathrooms: There are bathrooms located on most levels within the lecture theatre block (male, female and gender neutral). Similarly, in the Students Union located next door to the Hicks Building.

Parenting room: Located next door to the porters lodge in the main entrance to the Hicks Building (up the hill from the location of the workshops). The door has a passcode, speak to the porter for this.

Quiet rooms: We have not booked a specific quiet room. However, both LTB and LTC are booked for the duration of all workshops, as such, anyone is welcome to take themselves off to one of these as needed. Further to this, there is LTA, LTD and LTE within the same block which are likely to be empty most of the time - people are more than welcome to use these as well where needed.
