Live Projects

The Live Projects are a pioneering educational initiative introduced by the School of Architecture at the University of Sheffield. The projects draw on the School’s exceptional research base as well as the commitment, vision and resources of highly talented students. Running since 1999, the initiative is responsible for over 250 completed projects, each of which is archived below.

2024-2025

St Paul’s Wordsworth celebrates 75 years of faith and community, highlighting its heritage and outlining a bold redevelopment vision to serve Parson Cross well into the next century.

This Live Project partnered with the students of Seven Hills School, Sheffield, to reimagine their playground through a collaborative process that placed the children, many with special educational needs (SEN), at the centre of design. The project transformed an empty space into a playground that invites joy, activity, and choice.

RivelinCo describes itself as an “arts centre without walls.” They are a community centre based in a high-street shop front, but they go out into the neighbourhood to run creative workshops, meaning that the walls of their building do not confine them. However, as RivelinCo has grown, it now needs a larger base to run its operations, one with a larger office and flexible community spaces.
