Supervisor: Professor Kathy Christofidou
Joshua Berry holds a master’s degree in Physics from the University of Sheffield. He later transitioned into Materials Science, undertaking a PhD at the same institution. His doctoral research, completed within the IDEAs group under the supervision of Prof. Katerina Christofidou, focused on materials informatics to accelerate the development of hard metals. During his PhD, Joshua also collaborated with the AIRE team in the Computer Science Department, contributing to an interdisciplinary project at the intersection of materials science and data-driven methodologies.
Currently, Joshua continues his work with the IDEAs group as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. His research now focuses on powder feedstock recycling and reconditioning for laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing processes. This work aims to enhance the sustainability of additive manufacturing by reducing its environmental footprint.
