Year 10 - Semester Option (this is a full year course that runs over semester 1 and 2)
In Year 10 you can choose to study Te Reo Māori, French or Spanish, or as many as two languages. The demand for speakers of Te Reo Māori in the workplace is increasing, and French and Spanish are languages that are widely spoken around the world.
The aim of the Year 10 Te Reo Māori course is to enable the students to communicate in real-life situations in the workplace and on the marae. Language classes are interactive, so there are plenty of opportunities for students to practise and improve their skills. The students are exposed to a wide range of different learning activities including digital learning, group learning and independent learning.
There may be the opportunity to extend their knowledge of both culture and language through working at their own pace on Languages Badges.
Some of the topics the student might learn about are:
Family
School
Home
Personal characteristics
Recreational activities
Over the year you will build a portfolio of work.
This course is a prerequisite for Year 11 Te Reo Māori
