• You may check the 4th and 5th grade Science section of this website to find out what we are working on in Science each week and what we got accomplished each day.

• I will be grading science work based on a points system. On graded work, you will see the number of points the student earned over the points possible for that assignment.

• Students will be graded weekly for their science interactive notebook. The grade they will receive will be out of 10 points each week and it will be based on the rubric on the back cover of their notebook.

• We will be doing work and taking notes in their science interactive notebooks daily and these notebooks will stay at school unless they are studying for tests.

• Students will be graded based on labs and experiments that we do in class and if they miss a lab they will be excused from that lab because it will not be possible to make it up.

• I do not give assignments to students early who may be leaving for a trip or other reason

• All work is graded and uploaded in Facts within 24 to 48 hours.

• Absent work is to be turned in the next full day from an absence, unless otherwise noted by the teacher.

• I will help students catch up on science interactive notebook activities that they missed while absent.

• Students will have an "M" in FACTS letting you know the assignment is missing. It will calculate an "M" as a 0 and will alter the grade until the assignment is turned in. I will deduct 2 points from late work. Assignments should be turned in ASAP. I will not accept missing assignments after the end of a quarter. It will result in a 0 if assignments have not been turned in by end of quarter.

• I will remind students and parents about tests coming up on the website

• Tests or a Science Check-In are to be completed independently in class

• Students with documented services will be assisted accordingly

• Students will be allowed to ask questions only to the teacher during a test

• If any student is caught talking, passing, notes, showing their test, or caught cheating in any sort of way it will result in a zero

• Students will have the opportunity to earn points back on tests or check-in if they have under 75%.

  • They can do this by redoing the problems they got wrong by showing all work on a separate sheet of paper and turning back in with the test.

  • DO NOT WRITE ON THE ORIGINAL TEST OR THEY WILL NOT RECIEVE POINTS BACK!

Check FACTS grades on a regular basis to see how your child is doing, let me know of any discrepancies.

Science will have minimal homework outside of studying and projects.

I will respond to emails within 24 hours during the weekend and by Monday afternoon if I receive something on the weekend. I will not respond to emails after 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
