SECTION II
PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION CYCLE
USE OF IMPLEMENTATION CYCLE
The focus of the Counseling Advisory Council Committee is to ensure that a Comprehensive School Counseling Program is in place to meet the needs of the campus and to review its effectiveness. Our committee members are volunteers who participate for a 3 year term with campus representatives and various members of the community. Parent/student/teacher assessments and surveys are used to establish goals for social-emotional learning in our school. We use that data to guide and evaluate our Comprehensive Counseling Program.
The counselor who serves on this committee presents data and reviews efforts from student referrals and counseling support, to college and career readiness. Once presented with this information, the committee is asked for feedback regarding effectiveness and best practices. Together a counseling program that meets the needs of our students is developed. Based on survey results and staff emails, we decided to implement monthly Social-Emotional Guidance lessons and increase college awareness and access. In an effort to address the need for social-emotional learning that resulted from the Pandemic, our district adopted the use of the Character Strong curriculum which our teachers utilize weekly and adopted a year-at-a-glance that outlines specific character traits which are addressed each month.
