By May 2025, the counselor will meet individually with every 5th and 6th grade student at Shary Elementary in efforts to support Social Emotional Development as well as academic and transitional needs for the next grades.
By May 2025, John H Shary Elementary counselors will provide by-monthly Guidance Lessons to all students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade on the following topics: Empathy, Self-Direction, Teamwork, Integrity, Responsibility, Respect, Kindness, Courage, and Perseverance.
By May 2025, the Counseling Team will collaborate with multiple departments such as Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and outside partnerships in efforts to support all individual student needs.

Social Worker Referrals
John H. Shary Elementary School Counselors collaborated and completed 36 social worker request forms during the 2024-2025 school year by holding parent collaboration meetings, student individual counseling sessions, conducting home visits, and social worker staffing(s) to increase access to mental health student services. There was an increase in student attendance over the past 3 years due to our collaborative efforts in supporting student needs.
