The Wilson Army Junior ROTC Program helps to plan multiple events within the community. The largest of the main events JROTC plans is the annual Berks County Veterans Appreciation Dinner Dance. The dance, commonly known by cadets as the "Vets Dance", is the Service Learning Project that the Staff Members plan and Companies set up. The event is held in the Wilson High School Upper House gymnasium and the cadets help to set up chairs and tables that hold the over 700 veterans that attend this formal event, and the result is always spectacular. Cadets will be given formal jobs for the night, shift times, and an overview of expectations that must be upheld during the night. During the formal portion of the evening, multiple awards recognize those in our County who have served. Afterward, our veterans can enjoy dinner, kindly brought by local caterers, as well as a night full of dessert and dancing.
The night is not solely created by Wilson Cadets and the Committee, however. The night is brought together with the help of Muhlenberg's Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets, The Reading Composite Squadron 811 (Civil Air Patrol), Sea Cadets, and this year (22nd Annual) saw Berks Catholic students supporting our veterans during the night. We thank all of these groups for their continuous support!
