Chain of command
A major part of being in JROTC is understanding the Chain of Command. The Chain of Command is how cadets in higher positions spread information down to cadets in lower positions. There are two different companies within our program, Alpha Company, and Bravo Company. There is also a separate group of cadets who help support the two companies called Staff. All staff and leadership positions within the program are run by cadets. The main positions in the program are as follows:
Battalion level Positions
Addison Winchester is the Battalion Commander for the 2023-2024 school year, as well as the captain of the Color Guard and Raider team. The Battalion Commander position is the highest ranking position in the program as well as the highest ranking officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The Battalion commander is responsible for the day-to-day communications with not only the staff members and cadets, but also the school district, and community. While doing so the Battalion Commander works to supervise and manage the Battalion by creating plans of execution and help guide staff and company leadership.
Giavanna Jacobs is the executive officer (XO) and air rifle captain. As the cadet battalion executive officer her responsibility is to supervise, direct, and coordinate the cadet battalion staff to prevent overlapping efforts and to ensure that the commander's desires are understood and achieved. As captain of the air rifle team she works too organize the training schedule for the Rifle Marksmanship Team. She works to develop the rifle marksmanship program for the cadet battalion.
The command sergeant major is the highest enlisted rank in the program. Hunter Kreager was appointed to the position at the end of last school year. His duties include regulation of all cadet NCOs (non-commissioned officers) controlling noncompetitive color guards and is in charge of battalion discipline.
Khalil Thomas is the Operations Sergeant Major he serves two functions within the hierarchy of the JROTC program. He serves as an advisor to the S3 and backup to the CSM ( Command Sergeant Major.)
STAFF POSITONS
Alycia Amor-Garcia, is the S1 of the 2023-2024 school year. Her responsibilities are to manage all cadet’s awards as well as promotions/demotions. She has been in the JROTC program for 3 years, and is a senior this year
The position is filled by Marques Sharar. The S2 runs security on JROTC equipment. He is responsible for the whereabouts of all equipment considered valuable. along with security.
Andres Rodriguez is a 4th year cadet. He is the S3 and the rank of Major. The S3 is Operations which means he is in charge of planning events and assigning roles. One of the biggest events he is tasked to do is our annual veterans dance.
This position is filled by Mercedes Davis. The job of S5 is public relations. The S5 connects and reaches out to the community on behalf of the battalion. As well as reaches out to the middle schools for mentoring.
The position of S6 is occupied by George Dunda, his responsibilities include event photography, social media management, upkeep of communications equipment & creation of this website.
The S4 for the 23-24 year is Siena Rostek her job is to keep inventory of uniforms and all other supplies as well as issuing of these items.
Pablo Bellon is the S8, He is in charge of finances regarding fundraisers, Ticket Sales, and planning ways to gain funds for future events/projects.
Company Level Positions
Emily Albert is the commander of Alpha Company her job is to maintain a strong and communicative company. This is done by sending information to all cadets in a timely manner. Another important job that the Company Commander has is to communicate clearly with their Company 1SG, whom they work closely with. The Alpha Company Commander will oversee their Company in subjects such as uniform appearance and personal presentation. If cadets seem to be struggling with JROTC work or any personal issues, the Company Commander and Company 1SG are there at their disposal.
Eliana Alcantara the commander of Bravo Company her job is to maintain a strong and communicative company. This is done by sending information to all cadets in a timely manner. Another important job that the Company Commander has is to communicate clearly with their Company 1SG, whom they work closely with. The Bravo Company Commander will oversee their Company in subjects such as uniform appearance and personal presentation. If cadets seem to be struggling with JROTC work or any personal issues, the Company Commander and Company 1SG are there at their disposal.
Dominic Opstad takes the role of Alpha First Sergeant. In this role he is the right hand of the company commander and the disciplinary force on the company level .
Jahleel Shirley takes the role of Bravo First Sergeant. In this role he is the right hand of the company commander and the disciplinary force on the company level .
