Color Guards

One of the events that JROTC participates in multiple times a year are Color Guards. Cadets within the program get the opportunity to present the Pennsylvania state flag and the United States Flag before events such as school board meetings, football games, Special Olympics, and other school and JROTC events. Color Guards are a great way for cadets to learn discipline, and structure and are a major source of pride for cadets. Color Guards consist of four cadets, two holding rifles in the front and the back of the guard, and two cadets holding the Pennsylvania state flag and the United States flag.

VETERAN´S appreciation dinner Dance

JROTC helps to plan multiple events within the community. One of the main events that JROTC plans is the annual Veterans Appreciations Day Dance. The Veterans Dance is the main event that the JROTC cadets plan. The event is held in the Wilson High School Upper House gymnasium and the cadets help to set up enough chairs and tables to hold the over 1,000 veterans that show up. The process usually takes two days to set up, but the end result is always spectacular. During the main event, cadets greet the veterans outside and direct them down to the gym where the main festivities are held. Afterward, usually around 5:00 pm, there are speeches held to honor the oldest veteran in Berks County, and other amazing conversations throughout the night. Afterward, our veterans can enjoy dinner from one of the catering groups that JROTC works with, as well as a night full of dessert and dancing.

HALloween Parade

The Spring Township Halloween Parade is one of the first major community events that new JROTC cadets participate in. Every year, the Wilson JROTC program marches in the parade to bring awareness to the program.  It is a fun way for the new cadets to experience wearing their uniform in public, marching as a group, and meeting new people.

Armed Forces Day Parade

The Armed Forces Day parade was an excellent event that allowed the cadets to bring acknowledgment to the different services of the military. It was also a great way for the cadets to meet prominent people within the community and practice their marching and leadership skills.

 FUndraisers

One of the main fundraisers that JROTC participates in is the coupon fundraiser. Every year, cadets compete to try and sell the most coupon books, which include coupons for places in Berks County, as well as coupons for stores and restaurants found across the United States. The Cadet with the most sold coupon books gets the Fundraising ribbon. The coupon books are $25, and $5 of one of the books go back to the cadet for their military ball ticket, which costs $20.

MIlitary Ball

The military ball is an opportunity for the current cadets to acknowledge and appreciate the success that the seniors in the program have accomplished. It is a night of dancing and fun, with a way to let go of all the stress and a way to pass the torch and the mantle onto the next generation of cadets. We acknowledge all of the hard work that the seniors have put into the program, and we give our love and support to their post-high school dreams.

END OF YEAR AWARD CEREMONY

at the end of each school year, the program holds a ceremony to celebrate the graduating seniors and ordain the incoming leadership. As well as to hand out national-level awards. It is also directly preceding  this ceremony that the annual program photo is taken
