We love reading in 2nd Grade! This school year we will work together to grow as readers and explore chapter books! Reading at home is extremely valuable in helping your reader continue to grow and practice skills they have learned during our reading workshop time. Please provide time for your child to practice decoding new words, thinking and talking about books, and developing a love of reading. Thank you for your partnership!

Reading Logs
Please read nightly for at least 10 minutes. Please remember to record reading on reading logs!
Reading logs will be checked at the end of each month.
Please read the letter to the right to learn more about the reading log system.

Please keep books and snap word cards from Mrs. Winter in your child's backpack so they can be updated weekly. The books sent home are from my classroom library and should be books your child is familiar with to build their fluency and discussion of books.
Please also practice snap word cards for automaticity. Students will have 3 bags (green - fast and learned, yellow - slow and needs to practice, red - not mastered).
