Actions We Took
This group passed out flyers about the SDGs around Cocoa Beach for the Tough Gator Mud Run. The run raises money to plant small cabin hospitals with medical supplies in Africa, give kids in poverty school supplies and healthy food, and you can even donate your shoes after the race!
Liam went to an elderly home and gave out healthy food and such to the people there and explained to them about the action. He also told them about SDG 3 and sustainability.
Luke learned how to perform CPR and respond to life-threatening situations like severe bleeding, medical conditions, choking, etc. This action falls under lifestyle choices because with his new knowledge and experienced training, he can save lives and help others. He also informed his instructors about a few of SDG 3’s targets and how to learn more through the U.N.
Rayhan and Nolan worked together to program and test an AI that can take a CT-scan of the brain, predict whether or not you have cancer, and then, if you do have cancer, you can fill out a short form with some key information, and the AI will list possible chemotherapy drugs and their side effects. https://github.com/Messi10-12345/OpenCan
Zalena took action at the Orlando Health Hospital reading one of her letters to her grandpa who had recently had back surgery. She took this action to make sure the kids and elders had an amazing day when times may have been tough for them.
Sadie wanted to help a place that helps people with mental health problems and volunteered at a race sponsored by "Write Love on her Arms" in Satellite Beach.
Wesley went to a nursing home to donate a gift basket to spread joy.
