Actions We Took
For their first action, the group all got together and made informational videos about ways to take action locally and included a fact and a statistic in each video.
Casey did a beach clean up with Keep Brevard Beautiful. He went along the beach at Shepard's Park and picked up trash.
Sara, Alex, and Nikki went to a local park and took action by giving away plants and flowers for free. They also played their videos on a tablet to help spread awareness.
Robert made a device that can detect the quality of water and can also detect the sign of algae bloom using sensors like temperatures and pH. After, he made a website to spread the word.
Abel participated in a beach cleanup at Pelican Beach with Keep Brevard Beautiful to preserve our wildlife and reduce our effects on climate change.
Alex posted a catalytic converter poster at a local gas station to remind people when filling up their cars to replace their catalytic converters often enough to reduce their environmental impact. It contains information about the U.N., the SDG's and more specifically SDG 13 to encourage people to reduce their carbon and "nitrous oxide" footprint.
Sara wrote a newsletter about a tour that she took at the U.N. building over spring break. She wrote about the history of the United Nations and the SDGs and posted it to our school's weekly newsletter.
