Blood Tests

ADULTS (16 years and older) 

If an adult needs a blood test requested by a clinician, you may choose to attend one of the three main hospitals to have this done instead of booking in your own local GP surgery. Here is the information your need. 

WHICH HOSPITALS CAN TAKE MY BLOOD TEST? 

You can go to the following: 

1) Leicester Royal Infirmary Hospital 

2) Glenfield Hospital 

3) Leicester General Hospital 

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT? 

You need two things: (1) Your Blood Test Form from our practice (2) An appointment. 

(1) Collect a printed Blood Test Form from our surgery. 

(2) You cannot walk into the hospital for a blood test. You must get an appointment first. To get an appointment, call or email to arrange the appointment as below:

Please have ready the following information: 

Name, date of birth, your GP details, your preferred hospital to visit. 

CHILDREN (Under 16 year olds) 

All children's blood tests are carried out in the hospital.

All Test Results

Results from tests can take up to two weeks to be returned to us and we then update our computer systems. As soon as they arrive, we look at them and decide what action is needed. Normal results are generally filed away but you can contact us to confirm this.  

If an abnormality is seen, patients will be contacted by one of our health care professionals and any further investigations/follow-ups/referrals organised. However, if you would like to discuss any of your results in more detail, please telephone us after 11:00am to arrange a callback from one of our clinicians.
