Grade: Students entering grades 4 & 5 will have fun while learning their way around the kitchen. We will discuss safety, hygiene, and of course food! We will learn about portion sizes, food choices, and balancing a healthy diet. Students will follow recipes as they prepare a light meal each day. We will also create a recipe book at the end of the week for students to take home.

Join us for three sessions of creating advertising media for Dogtown, by Katherine Applegate. To continue the South Glens Falls Everybody Reads Campaign, join us to discuss the book and create media related to it. We will create Wanted Posters, Book Reviews, News Articles, Book Flyers, and a Breakout Box using technology programs including Canva and Google Slides.

The Fine Motor Factory is a hands-on enrichment class designed to help students develop and improve their handwriting through a fun, multisensory approach. Using a combination of tactile activities—like tracing, molding, and cutting—along with interactive digital media, students will strengthen their fine motor skills and build confidence in their writing. From shaping letters in sand to using styluses on tablets, young learners will explore creative and engaging ways to make handwriting both fun and functional!

This course is an introduction to American Sign Language (ASL). Students will learn basic signs and the importance of ASL as communication. Students will learn basic signs, including the alphabet, colors, numbers up to 20, and essential communication signs. Learning activities will include songs and a variety of games. We will have a quick snack during each class. Snacks will be available but students can bring their own. Please know that we are not certified ASL teachers/interpreters.

Get ready for a fun-filled summer journey into the world of poetry! In this exciting enrichment class, students in grades 2 and 3 will dive into the wonderful world of words through books, lessons, and hands-on activities. We will explore the beginnings of poetry, learning how it can be a creative and playful way to express ideas, feelings, and imagination. Our young poets will discover and create different types of poems, including Couplets, Cinquains, Haikus, Diamantes, and Acrostic Poems. We will end our week with a poetry reading and celebration, where students will share their poems with friends and family. Join us for a summer filled with imagination, learning, and the joy of poetry!

Come join us for some fun Reader's Theater! We will practice our fluency and expression by performing a script from a famous fairy tale turned FRACTURED! We will work together to bring the script to life fostering teamwork and creativity! We will make props and perform our fractured fairy tale at the end of the week! (NO memorization of lines is required...we will be reading from the script!) Get ready for some laughs!!!

This course is designed for students who are interested in exploring their creativity through both English language arts and visual arts. In this course, students will engage in a variety of activities and projects that will challenge them to think creatively and develop their skills in writing, drawing, and other forms of expression. Mrs. Sutton will lead students through character, conflict, and plot development as they create their pieces of fiction writing. Mr. Porter will add the visual component, working on layouts, captions, and artistic expression. By the end of the course, students will have their unique graphic novel that they have written and drawn!

Storybook Creations is a fun and imaginative program where each day, participants will listen to a new, exciting story. The students will then dive into a creative art project inspired by that day's tale. This hands-on program nurtures creativity, storytelling, and artistic expression, providing a memorable and fun-filled week of learning and discovery. By the end of the week, students will have a collection of artwork and a deeper connection to the stories they've explored. Perfect for young artists and book lovers alike!
