Year 10
at St George College
at St George College
Many students in Year 10 are still unsure which academic path they wish to follow. As such, the curriculum in Year 10 offers a broad educational foundation based on the requirements of the Australian Curriculum and also thoroughly prepares students for Stage 1 of SACE while keeping their subject options open for the future.
Each student in Year 10 will study the following compulsory subjects:
To provide for interests and passions, students will also select electives as part of their curriculum. Each of the electives is a semester course and students must select one elective per semester. Students may choose to study the same elective in the two semesters as the courses are different. Students will study each elective for 4 lessons per week.
Note: Elective choices may be altered due to small class sizes or other timetable constraints.
Stage 1 Exploring Identities & Futures (EIF)
Stage 1 Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) is a compulsory 10-credit subject completed at Year 10. Students must achieve a C grade or better to complete the subject successfully and gain their SACE.
EIF supports students to explore their aspirations. They are given the space and opportunity to extend their thinking beyond what they want to do, to also consider who they want to be in the future. The subject supports students to learn more about themselves, their place in the world, and enables them to explore and deepen their sense of belonging, identity, and connections to the world around them.
EIF prepares students for their SACE journey and the knowledge, skills, and capabilities required to be thriving learners. As an introduction to the SACE, students will be empowered to take ownership of where their pathway leads, exploring interests, work, travel and/or further learning.
