We are excited to have students explore topics of interest and demonstrate their scientific thought in the process each year for the Science Fair. Click here to enjoy photo albums of memories from past projects!
Gr. 6 cell membrane investigation.
We are so excited to have the LaPalme Farm Trail behind our school property, and during the pandemic even raised funds to help support the Buzzards Bay Coalition, who helps to maintain the path. Students are blessed to not only have a great recreational area to appreciate the change of seasons, but can also appreciate and make observations about the local ecology on nature trail walks throughout the year which ties into science instruction
We plan to continue to use this exciting outdoor classroom experience to enrich learning.
Our school solar project will not only allow our school to save money on energy, but will also establish a real-time connection to green energy for students that can spark curious scientific minds!
Students will be able to gather data on the solar panels affixed to our school roof and concretely understand the importance of exploring ways of caring for God's creation by harnessing renewable energy more efficiently.
Our 7th grade students connected their in-class learning about energy and ecosystems to our local ecology in a special marine science initiative called "Tracking the Seas" all made possible through the funding of a Carney Foundation Seed Grant in 2019-2020. Each month, students charted "real life" data from analysis of water samples that students at Bishop Stang High School collected and shared throughout the year from Apponagansett Point Harbor in Dartmouth, MA. Students learned about plankton and analyzed the marine ecosystem. They were able to view, identify and photograph various plankton first-hand using high-tech video scopes; equipment that remained to enhance our science technology abilities and that Grades 6-8 can now all utilize!

We hope to continue to find fun adventures to go on that not only connect us as a middle school community, but also open our eyes to the presence of God in world around us.
Check out our school Facebook page to see some photo highlights from our Cuttyhunk trip as a middle school from the 2019-2020 school year! More exploring local ecology...but this time while on retreat!
