Students are able to come into the Wellness Center if they need a break or to decompress during the school day. We provide an environment where they are able to express themselves and be themselves. Students are able to come down with a pass from their teachers if needed. In times of a crisis, we will advocate on our student's behalf. We also help provide support if our students want someone to talk to or just want someone to listen. We love to hear and learn more about our Roosevelt Community. If a student needs a snack, they are welcome to come down and ask if we have something available and assess their needs. Students are also able to come and get menstrual supplies as needed.
The Wellness Center is working to offer our Roosevelt community with a variety of groups. We work together with the Beacon Center to provide our students with Identity-Based Social Clubs. Groups give us the opportunity to work with students and create meaningful connections while learning about themselves or wellness topics. We also work in collaboration with the Health Education teacher to provide students with information regarding mental health, sexual health, substance use and other health topics.
Families and students are encouraged to contact our Wellness Center if they need information on resources. We can assist in finding resources related to, but not limited to, food, shelters, youth programs, family support, therapy or counseling, and health clinics within their communities.
The Beacon Program and the Wellness Center work collaboratively to offer coordinated student support during the school day. The Beacon Program helps provide wellness services that support the physical and behavioral needs of our students. This includes running identity-based lunch clubs and providing information or referrals for students and families to various community programs.
