Visit the College and Career Center to become familiar with the services offered and learn how to evaluate interests and career options.
CaliforniaColleges.edu is an online tool for students to learn about yourself and your interests, research colleges, and find applications for financial aid, UC's, and CSU's. Play around on the website to become familiar with features available.
Start to think about what interests you, which occupations meet those interests, and what education is required.
Some schools may require tests but more are test optional, and the UC's and CSU's do not take standardized test scores for their application review. Keep informed about testing dates through the College Board, and notifications through our Friday Community Letter from our Principal.
Continue your participation in school and community extracurricular activities.
Do your best at school. Maintain excellent attendance.
If you are ready, you can visit college and tech school campuses when traveling on vacation or sporting events. Take an official tour, eat in the dining commons, grab a school newspaper, and speak with a student.
Family and friends are important.
Work, intern, or shadow a professional. This will help you identify what interests you. Stay active in your extracurricular activities. Consider taking a pre- college program at an art/theater/music school or university with a corresponding program.
