Kai Davis trained in her hometown of Chicago Ill at The Ruth Page Foundation School of Dance under the direction of the late, great Larry Long. She also trained at The Lou Conte School of Dance along with full summer scholarships to The Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet & The Joffrey Ballet.
Her professional career began out of high school in 1996 with The Boston Ballet. Throughout her time there, Kai was fortunate to perform as a corps member in some of the great Vaganova classics such as Swan Lake, Giselle & Sleeping Beauty and soloist roles in Don Quixote and La Bayadere.
Kai also danced with San Jose Ballet from 2001 -2003 where she performed in works by George Balanchine, Roland Petite and Donald McKayle. She then went on to spend 5 seasons with Ballet BC of Vancouver, Canada. There she took part in the creation process with then Director John Alleyne and had the great opportunity to perform in works by Nacho Duato, Jiri Kylian and William Forsythe.
Since retiring from the stage in 2010, Kai began teaching & coaching young professionals. She currently resides in San Francisco where she teaches company class for Smuin Ballet SF and Oakland Ballet. She also teaches ballet & pointe technique for the Training Program of Alonzo King's Lines Ballet.
