This course introduces students to the common tools that will be found in a common household and how they are safely used. Along with this, students will learn how to properly measure, correctly design, and efficiently calculate all supplies needed to complete a project. Students design and make small, craft-sized projects using scroll saws and simple signs with the CNC Router. They will leave with basic tool experience and knowledge to use for the rest of their life or add to in the future by taking Materials Processing. Remote/hybrid learning greatly affected the amount of projects students created this year, so there isn't near the amount of projects to share as there would be in a normal year.
The first project of each marking period for this block is to design and then create a wooden quilt square.
After completing the quilt squares, the finish the marking period completing projects with the scroll saws that increase in difficulty. Unfortunately we missed a large amount of time in the actual shop due to remote learning so I had very few pics of projects from these classes (aside from quilt squares) to share.
