Materials Processing
This course introduces the students to the native species of lumber found in our area while using woodworking tools to construct projects from them. Students are presented with basic projects to construct with moderate guidance at the beginning of the course and will transition to designing and constructing projects on their own by the end. Students learn the safe and proper use of woodworking tools along with acquiring techniques and practices that I have learned from skilled tradesmen over the years. Remote/hybrid learning greatly affected the amount of projects students created this year, so there isn't near the amount of projects to share as there would be in a normal year.

Materials Processing's first projects of the year are cutting boards. This year they had to do a basic cutting board as well as a custom design.
We were able to purchase a CNC Router through the PA SMART Grant for this year. Some students chose to use this to put designs on their cutting boards because the said they would be used for decoration and not actual food preparation.
