It's one thing to read about the experiences of Black students and hear about it from those who witnessed them. It is another to hear it from the mouths of those very students. Cultural oral history projects provide us with perspectives and contexts that may be otherwise lost or ignored. They also help to enrich our understanding of history by filling in the gaps where physical sources may be lacking. Oral histories are priceless additions to historical research that can be referenced for generations to come. Below are interviews collected from Black Seton Hill alumni and current students. Each provided insight into their personal experiences during their periods of enrollment, as well as the climate of the university during their time here. All participants were encouraged to share their full truth and were given the option to be identified or unidentified. Thank you to the men and women who participated, making their stories a permanant part of the Seton Hill community.
