Student Assistance Program (SAP)

What is the Student Assistance Program (SAP)?

The SAP program is a way to identify high risk students who are having persistent school-related problems.  It is a method for intervening and referring those students to appropriate community services who are experiencing difficulties associated with drugs and alcohol and/or mental health issues.  The SAP program is NOT a treatment program. The heart of this program is a core group of school personnel, called the SAP Team, who are certifiably trained to identify problems areas and make appropriate referrals. Students can be referred to the SAP team by other students, parents/guardians, teachers, school counselors, or administrators.
