Yes! 5th grade teachers go to Walden West with students for the entire week. We stay the night, hike with students, run recess, inspect cabins, and are available to help and support students throughout the week.
Great! Science Camp is the perfect opportunity for them to experience an overnight camp, as they get to experience it alongside their school friends and peers. The Walden West staff is incredibly skilled at making students feel comfortable and safe at camp, even if a student has never been away from home before. Students will be placed into cabins with other students they feel comfortable with. In addition, the teachers will be present at camp to ensure that students are safe and having a wonderful experience.
Yes. If you think your child will need any kind of medication while at camp (ibuprofen, Tylenol, vitamins, allergy medication, inhaler, epipen), please send it with them. You will need to get the Walden West Physician’s Form signed by a doctor in order for the camp nurse to administer medication. More directions are be included in the Walden West Parent Information packet. It may seem like Science Camp is a long way off, but time goes by quickly and doctor’s appointments fill up fast.
Students love getting letters when they're at camp! If you would like to send a letter to your child at camp, please give it to your child's teacher on or before the first day of camp. Mail will be delivered to campers Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday.
