CHSPE - California High School Proficiency Exam

Testing out of High School - the CHSPE

The California High School Proficiency Exam or CHSPE is an exam that is the legal equivalent of a California high school diploma, recognized in most states. There are two sections - English Language Arts and Math.

To take the CHSPE, you must:

    • Be at least 16 years old.

    • Be enrolled in school.

    • Register on line for a date - administered three times/year - March, June and October.

    • Pay appropriate fees (financial aid available - see website) - register early and save money.

    • Remain in school until results are released.

FAST FACTS ABOUT THE CHSPE

    • The CHSPE is an excellent option for many students! It is an opportunity to begin college, work or any postsecondary option.

    • Students who pass the CHSPE pursing college, vocational or technical career training can apply and may qualify for financial aid through FAFSA.

    • The CHSPE is different from the GED and HiSET.

    • Students passing the CHSPE can participate (walk) in the Redwood Graduation ceremony.
