DJing In depth

In this course, students will learn/experience the difference between DJing with digital vs. analog (vinyl records). They will learn about the business end of DJing by visiting the team at Piknic Electronik/Igloofest and learn about buying and collecting music through the used record store Death Of Vinyl and new record business La Rama (housed in the same space). Another field trip will bring us to The Phi Centre, another Montreal cultural institution. We will tour and learn about their professional recording facilities. There will also be a focus on learning basic musical structure by using Ableton to rearrange an existing piece of music the boys can use in their DJ sets. The boys will rotate through two DJ setups on the final day to record two one-hour mixes as our final product.
