Tech Help

We know most of you have developed some amazing video conferencing and virtual teaching skills over the past 18 months. Just in case, here are a few best practices for video conferencing and tips to maximize your WiFi connection.

If you need additional help, text or call Elisabeth.

Best Practices for Video Conferencing

  • Sign in to Zoom 10 minutes early each day to allow time for any troubleshooting.

  • Mute yourself and remain muted during the workshop unless you are speaking. If you forget, we will mute you on your behalf. This will help eliminate any distracting background noise.

  • We will have full group discussions and small group breakouts each day. Although we don’t require that you have your camera on at all times, please be prepared to have your camera on for portions of the day, particularly during discussions.

  • Consider using a headset for better audio and microphone quality.

Tips for WiFi Connection Issues

  • Restart your computer before signing on each day.

  • Disconnect any devices you are not using from your WiFi network.

  • Close all unnecessary tabs on your browsers.

  • Position yourself close to your router and ensure it is not blocked by furniture or books.

  • If you are experiencing lags on the Zoom call, try restarting Zoom, temporarily turning off your video, or restarting your computer.
