Welcome to 5th Grade Social Studies! Fifth grade social studies is a year long course where students will study basic geography and early United States history. Content is broken into six units and are presented in a chronological approach. Emphasis on analyzing primary sources, research skills, and communicating findings are incorporated throughout all units. Units of study include world / U.S. geography, Indigenous Peoples, European Explorers, 13 English Colonies, United States Constitution, and Maine Studies. The fifth grade social studies curriculum is aligned with the current Maine Learning Results.

This year will be my fifth year teaching fifth grade social studies at SeDoMoCha. I attended the University of Maine at Orono to receive my physical education degree and have since completed my degree in elementary education. I live in Dover-Foxcroft with my fiancee, Andrew (aka Mr. L) and our two dogs, Ridley and Barrett.
I was born and raised in Dexter where I continue to work as a cheering coach in the fall and winter. When I am not working, I enjoy playing sports, spending time with my dogs and family, fishing, and spending time outside anyway that I can.
