Note: Requests received during Winter Break will be processed when students return from Winter Break.
*Note: If you have already graduated, please contact the Registrar's Office at 307-8400 for Transcript Requests.
Please complete the Transcript Request Form if a college or scholarship organization is requesting for your transcript to be sent directly from Waianae High School.
BEFORE you complete the form, be sure to research under the Admissions section of the college website on HOW and WHERE they accept the transcript (i.e. US mail, e-mail, etc.).
AFTER you submit the form, be on the lookout for an e-mail notifying you to electronically sign and finalize the request. After you electronically sign the request, your parent (if you are under 18) will also receive an e-mail to do the same.
Most colleges have application fees. However, many also will waive an application fee upon request if a student meets eligibility. Some colleges have a section within their application for you to request an application fee waiver. If the college application does not have this option, e-mail the Admissions Office of the college to request a waiver.
All University of Hawaii Community College applications are free.
UH Manoa, UH West Oahu, and UH Hilo are now waiving application fees for Hawaii residents.
Colleges use different types of college applications. Some colleges allow a student to apply using their Institutional Application or an Application Portal.
Many colleges have their application available on the “Admission” section of their school’s website. These applications are specifically designed for their school. This type of application may require you to create a username and password. Keep track of this information.
Application portals provide standardized applications which allow you to apply to multiple schools with a single application. Instead of filling out eight different applications, you can simply fill out one and submit it to each college.
The Common Application
The Coalition for Education Application
The Universal Application
The application portals allow you to apply to multiple schools with a single application. However, they can also be quite lengthy to complete. If you are applying to several colleges which use the same application portal, then use the application portal.
Some colleges or scholarship applications require letters of recommendation. They will usually specify what type of recommendation letter is being requested (teacher, counselor, community member, etc).
For some applications, you will be asked to give the name of the person writing the recommendation and their e-mail address. That person will then receive an e-mail with a link to upload their recommendation letter directly to your application. It is common courtesy to ASK the person whether they are able and willing to write you a letter BEFORE you put their name and e-mail address on an application.
Colleges will often prefer the Teacher Recommendations to be from a core class such as English, Math, Social Studies, or Science.
Ask the recommender ahead of time so they have ample time to write and upload the letter before the deadline.
A strong letter of recommendation will be from a teacher who knows you well enough to write personal observations of your academic readiness or character. The colleges are looking for information about you beyond what can be found within your application or transcript.
Please check out this resource for tips on writing a letter of recommendation for a student that includes example letters:
The PTP (Personal Transition Plan) requires submission of a college application as one of the required tasks. We recommend you apply to one of the University of Hawaii Community Colleges. These applications are free.
