On December 14th, College club hosted a pet supply donation drive. The drive was aimed to help collect donations for the Hawaiian Humane society and families along the leeward coast that are in need of pet supplies such as food, water, blankets, leashes, collars, and more. With the help of the community, faculty, staff, and students, the club was able to collect 4 full donation boxes. The donations were split evenly to be distributed to families at Pu'uhonua o Waianae (near Waianae Tennis Courts and Boat Harbor), families across Waterwaste Plant, families along Mai'ili beach parks and across Princess Kahanu homes and the Hawaiian Humane Society Kosasa Family Campus at Ho'opili in Ewa Beach. The families were very appreciative and accepting of the donation boxes and bags that were distributed. Special Mahalo to: Denise, Tristen, Mariah, Jazel, Angela, Ke'alohilani, HouJunlong, Devin, Surenity, Riell, Ashlyn, Chad, Isabela, Abigail, Dominick, Shylee, Nainoa, Shanai, Savannah, Daisy, and Fritz. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to volunteer.
2022 - Waianae High School - College Club Members
Part of College Club’s purpose is to sponsor at least one community service activity per semester. For the Fall semester, the students in College Club gathered together and planned a clothing drive. This clothing drive was special because the students came up with the idea of opening a “College Closet.” The idea behind this was to gather clothing donations from the community and host a College Closet where students and staff at Wai’anae High School could come and take what they needed. College Club was able to collect roughly ten full garbage bags of clothing donations. Students visited and thrifted some nice pieces of clothing. The last of the donations was then taken to the Ma’ili Land Transitional Housing Program. The staff there were very grateful for the donations and for College Club hosting a clothing drive. A special thanks to all the student volunteers that worked hard to host this event!
