Design question

In an art museum visitor is only a spectator and just able to see and not sense the art or sculpture through senses, but what if the visitor is allowed to replicate or to produce a newer response for the existing by actually sitting there? (Workshop space or a kala kendra). Why can't the museum space change its behaviour according to the activity that has to be conducted there? Eg maybe a semi open space to exhibit and a more open space that is responding the need.

Just as a laboratory is a experimental space why cant a museum be such? 

Design Intension

Providing a space for the local people around, so that they can have alternate exhibitions of their art work and for visitors to react through Workshops that are conducted, where this process of making will also be a part of exhibits . A space where the museum becomes the part of public activities ,such as a fair.

Site analysis

The site is located at Nirmal, Nalla sopara, the intervention area is near the foot of Shankaracharya temple on the mountain top. This area is connected to the villages like Juchandra Naigaon  which is very popular in making rangolis. The area of Agashi village is well known in making sculptures and idol of god and goddess. Village Nvale and few others are famous  musical band groups. Nirmal is famous for its history and the huge fair that happens at the end of November.

New art displays which will be always incremental.

A practice or workshop space.

Program

Building a space for the museum as a extruded landscape. Where the lower part is kept free and a connector for the fair to pass through the museum.  A workshop place for creating sculptures. Display area for the sculptures and area for rangoli making. A space for practice of art such as a group of people practicing  music band.
