LOCATION OF THE SITE OF INTERVENTION
The footpath already functions as a waiting space for the bus stop, accommodating both those who pause and the fast-moving crowd that passes through. In this concept, “waiting” is expressed through seating, serving not only bus commuters but also other pedestrians. From observations of how spaces were used and unused, I identified patterns of activity, circulation, and neglect across the site. These insights informed the site’s organisation, allowing me to position spaces in direct response to human behaviour. Observations of pedestrian collisions helped in identifying the most effective locations for interventions. The programme therefore focuses on creating an organised space for hawkers and vendors that maintains the footpath atmosphere while minimising the collisions.
