We began by learning the orthographic drawings, focusing on the techniques needed to represent three-dimensional objects in two dimensions. Later groups were formed and were assigned specific projects where we applied our knowledge to interpret their architectural features and design elements. We began by drafting the plan section and elevations to establish a clear vision of the site. To create 1:50 scale models from those drafts, we began by carefully analyzing the designs and measurements provided. Next, we translated these dimensions into a scaled-down version. Finally, after exploring various materials we constructed the models, paying close attention to the proportions and aesthetics.
Our group was assigned Parekh House by Arch. Charles Correa as our project focus. From our initial drafts, we collaboratedly created a detailed small-scale model that captures the essence of the house. This hands-on experience allowed us to better understand the building process and the significance of each and every element included in the building.
