Site Documentation
The study focused on the MHB Police Station, where I explored the site’s genealogy and examined how its spatial organization evolved over time. Through this research, I interpreted the logic behind the building’s arrangement and identified the rationale for the specific zones and areas the station encompasses. This helped me understand how spatial planning supports both administrative functions and the wider community coverage the station provides.
Design
How can living and working coexist within the same spatial framework, where police personnel manage essential routines like cooking, sleeping, and resting alongside professional duties? The coexistence of living and working within the same spatial framework in a police station demands a sensitive architectural approach that balances institutional efficiency with the everyday rhythms of human life. Living areas should be acoustically and visually buffered from high-activity police work zones.
Living and working can coexist within a police station by designing spatial frameworks that segregate yet integrate domestic routines—such as cooking, sleeping, and resting—alongside essential professional functions, using multipurpose zoning and well-considered circulation strategies. Living areas should be acoustically and visually buffered from high-activity police work zones.
I explored a spatial juxtaposition where living and working coexist within the same architectural framework. During my study, I observed that police personnel often stay overnight in the station during festivals or periods of high demand, usually in inadequate accommodations.
To address this, my design integrates residential and professional spaces, enabling officers to live and work within a unified environment. This approach also supports officers who are newly transferred from distant locations, allowing them to reside temporarily on-site until they find permanent housing. The aim is to create a more functional, humane, and adaptive spatial system for contemporary policing needs.
