Welcome to the home base of San Dieguito Academy Thespian Troupe #2196!
We are a club for all members of the SDA Theatre department, located in the Clayton E. Liggett Theater at 800 Santa Fe Drive in Encinitas, CA.
The Thespian club is always accepting new students. We encourage anyone interested to attend one of our meetings, held every Tuesday at lunch in the theater. No experience is needed, and our officers and director (Mrs. Stephanie Siers) are happy to help anyone get involved with acting or technical (backstage) work.
Want to get involved? Here's how to start.
Get connected! All of our contact info, social media, and other fun stuff is listed on our Contact Us page!
Take our Surveys! We use our Welcome Survey and Induction Survey to get to know you and figure out how to make your involvement with SDA theatre a better experience!
Come to meetings! They’re held every Tuesday at lunch in the PAC. Our officers and Mrs. Siers are happy to help you get involved - just ask!
Come to an event or activity! Our calendar is here.
Audition for an after-school show or sign up for tech. We typically have one after-school show per semester. You can find technical applications/audition forms in the theater.
Sign up for a class. Our class options are:
Acting I - For actors wanting to get their start in the program. Students learn theater basics, as well as write and perform in the annual One-Act Festival. This is the prerequisite for acting in any other class.
Technical Theatre - The class for students interested in backstage work for a full length production. No prerequisites or previous experience required. This is a prerequisite for the following classes for those interested in doing technical work.
Drama Production - Produce and perform in a full-length play. Prerequisite: Acting I or Technical Theatre.
Musical Theatre Production - Perform in a musical production and a Cabaret Night variety show. Prerequisite: Acting I or Technical Theatre.
Advanced Drama Honors - Perform or do technical work for a high-level show, and learn more about theatre history and theatre as a career. Prerequisite: Acting I or Technical Theatre, plus Drama Production or Musical Theatre Production. Juniors and seniors only.
Parents:
Come to a Theatre Arts Council meeting on the first Tuesday of every month at 6pm in the conference center for ways to get involved. Without the generosity and time of the TAC, we wouldn't be able to put on shows or keep the program alive!
