Induction
What is Induction?
Students in Thespians have the oppertunity to get officialy inducted into the troupe to gain stronger connection to the community, as well as many perks! Induction is possible for both actors and technicians to channel their passion for theater arts.
Why Get Inducted?
Inducted thespians gain access to a variety of perks, including:
A free ticket to every SDA show
Discounted tickets when we see shows as a group
A year long subscription to Dramatics Magazine
A discount and access to certain activities at California Thespian Festival
Honor Cord when you graduate (if you meet requirements)
A certificate and official member card
Getting inducted:
Students with a high interest in theatre may consider official induction into SDA’s branch of the International Thespian Society. To be eligible for induction, students must:
Earn 10 points for participation in productions. Up to five points may come from outside shows, such as community theatre. Points must also come from multiple areas of theatre participation; for example, a student who is primarily an actor must try an aspect of tech, and a student who specializes in one technical crew must try something else.
What does a point represent? One point is estimated to account for 10 hours of work. For a full reference sheet of approximate point values, click here.
Students who meet all the requirements will be invited to our end-of-year banquet for official induction. More information about banquet will be released in May.
Staying inducted:
To stay inducted, students must:
Meet the requirements listed above every year (regarding points). If you are unsure of how many points you have, ask an officer or check the point value sheet (under Resources -> Points).
