WHAT IS THE SOPHOMORE QUEST PROGRAM?

Sophomore QUEST connects second-year students with opportunities to grow their skills as they prepare for graduation and life after SDSU.
Programs focused on a range of topics including academic and career planning, leadership and independent living skills, and high impact practices (e.g. Study Abroad, undergraduate research, community service, and internships).
As a QUEST Peer Advisor (QPA), you'll have the opportunity to lead others by providing guidance and support to students in a variety of areas (including academic skill development, campus involvement, financial literacy, personal issues, and navigating the university environment). You'll also be able to collaborate with Campus Partners and Residence Hall staff to deliver engaging QUEST in-person and virtual programming, as well as unique forms of resident engagement.
Utilize marketing strategies to increase participation in events that are specific to your assigned community
Assess the needs of individual students in the community by reading conversation summaries and tailoring programming in response
Connect with your supervisor and other mentors on a biweekly basis
Maintain open communication with supervisor and report concerning behaviors from students to provide applicable resources
Act as a positive and professional role model for students
Attend all professional development involvements and training
Other duties as assigned
Before we start you on your journey for success, we have a few requirements for the job:
Enrollment at SDSU with a minimum of 6 credit units at all times
Courses taken at SDSU Global Campus or other universities do not count towards the 6-unit minimum
A minimum overall GPA of 2.75
Good academic and judicial standing with SDSU
A space will be provided on campus to be used to fulfill position requirements. However, programming will need to be carried out within assigned sophomore communities.
**rates may change on a semester basis.
This position requires a minimum of 6 hours per week and a maximum of 10 hours per week.
Hours will be regular each week but may vary depending on programming needs in the evening.
Experience with coordinating and conducting programming
Communication, peer-advising, and mentoring skills
