Highly effective treatments exist for anxiety and related disorders, such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and exposure response prevention (ERP). These treatments relieve significant distress and impairment caused by anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders in children and adults. There is still a lot we don’t know about anxiety. Unfortunately, many individuals who might benefit from these treatments don’t receive the help they need, either because they don’t have access to a therapist who is trained to deliver evidence-based treatment for anxiety, or due to treatment costs. We believe that everyone should have access to effective treatment for anxiety. We hope that through this research, we can better understand the nature of anxiety and develop the most effective ways of treating these disorders.
