Monday, June 1
K–2 teachers will collaborate with grade-level colleagues to internalize Benchmark Readers Workshop units, updating SPS Unit Planners with essential standards, proficiency scales, HQIM, assessment cycles, and best instructional practices to design learning experiences aligned to student needs.

ATLAS Writing Rubric: Data, Alignment & Instructional Practice (3–10)
Wednesday, June 3
In this DESE-led session, teachers will examine current ATLAS writing data, explore alignment to Arkansas standards, and deepen their understanding of the new six-point ATLAS writing rubric launching in 2026–27. Participants will analyze student writing samples to build consistent scoring practices and develop targeted, standards-aligned instructional strategies to support student growth in writing.
Phonics Refresher: Updated Practices & Instructional Design (K–2)
Thursday, June 11
K–2 teachers will revisit and refresh their phonics instruction through the lens of the science of reading. Participants will explore updated practices, deepen understanding of current alignment to science of reading research, and collaborate with grade-level colleagues to internalize and plan upcoming phonics units.
Morphology Refresher: Updated Practices & Instructional Design (3–5)
Friday, June 12
3–5 teachers will revisit and refresh their morphology instruction through the lens of the science of reading. Participants will explore updated practices, deepen understanding of current alignment to science of reading research, and collaborate with grade-level colleagues to internalize and plan upcoming morphology units.
IM360 Unit Internalization & Instructional Design (K–5)
Tuesday, June 2 & Repeated Tuesday, June 9
Building on a full year of IM360 implementation, K–5 teachers will collaborate with grade-level colleagues to engage in deep unit internalization with an emphasis on integrating proficiency scales into lesson development and assessment. A significant portion of the day will be dedicated to supported collaborative planning, allowing teams to intentionally design high-quality mathematics instruction.
Fact Fluency: Multiplication & Division — Assessment, Strategy & Instruction

Teachers will explore how to use fact fluency assessments to guide instructional decisions around multiplication and division. Participants will examine strategy development, effective teaching and intervention practices, and practical approaches to building fact fluency in all students.

Get ready to dive into all things Science and STEM! This full-day session brings together multiple staff presenters to offer a morning of choice-based learning. Select the sessions that best fit your needs — whether you're exploring Mystery Science, discovering Additional Science Planning Tools, or diving into STEM Integration strategies.
As Mystery Science rolls out district-wide this year, K–5 teachers will have dedicated time to build familiarity with the curriculum, connect with grade-level colleagues, and dig into upcoming units together. Expect conversations around instructional design, best practices, and assessment cycles to help you plan with purpose. The afternoon shifts into open planning and collaboration time, with staff on site to support you every step of the way. Come ready to explore, connect, and plan!
Exploring Science / STEM: Hands-On Learning for K–5
Monday, June 8 — Hosted at Walker Elementary
Similar to our June 3rd session, this full day at Walker Elementary expands more STEM exploration! K–5 teachers will enjoy an expanded menu of choice-based learning in the morning, repeating Mystery Science and featuring additional STEM-focused sessions plus a panel discussion highlighting how to support and maximize your school's STEM and WONDER Labs. Hear directly from colleagues about best practices, creative uses, and how to integrate these spaces into your science instruction throughout the year. The afternoon opens up for planning and collaboration, with staff on site to help you connect ideas to your classroom. Come curious and ready to wonder!
