We working on Protocols for when CTMs meet in person for their 1/2days.
PROTOCOLS for In Person Meeting CTMs
Here were some things we noticed:
Agendas included the correct items like norms, topics, roles, so on
Most groups had a clear plan for next week's google meets
Some groups did not have agenda posted in the shared folders, but were able to get them uploaded after we let them know we couldn't find them.
There seems to be a slight misunderstanding of the purpose CTMs. We saw a lot of planning, talking about classroom activities/holidays in CTM planning documents.
CTMs purpose is to answer the 4 critical questions of the PLC process.
1. what do you want kids to know/learn?
2. How are you going to know they know it?
3. What will you do when they don't know it?
4. What will you do if they do have it?
Unpacking units and talking about how you are going to teach a skill is part of this process. However, the focus of PLC work in CTMs happens when we look at a specific skill that is missing or deemed "essential" and then what you as a CTM are going to do about it.
So as your CTMs meet this week, you may want to look at the protocols for in person meetings, edit and revise your CTM planning guide document that we working on during back to school week so that your CTM can be purposeful and not just "one more thing" we have to do.
