Ebeneezer Scrooge is the protagonist of Charles Dickens' 1843 novella, A Christmas Carol. At the beginning of the novella, Scrooge is a cold-hearted miser who despises Christmas .Ebeneezer Scrooge - The miserly owner of a London counting-house, a nineteenth century term for an accountant's office. The three spirits of Christmas visit the stodgy bean-counter in hopes of reversing Scrooge's greedy, cold-earthed approach to life.
Characters help us understand the story better because they add more feeling and action. Characters can be based off of people and how they act, and people/characters can make a big difference in the society they are in. Characters can also help revel the plot or main idea of a story. Characters also lead the reader the believe one thing or another. Say if a character was joking with someone they might make you believe they it was just a joke when really it wasn't . But characters in a Christmas carol help show scrooge the wrongs of his ways and change him to be more caring and generous.
We can still remember them because they were passed down from generations and told for a very long time in families and in different places and in alternate languages. Another crucial part in why we still remember the characters is because when the story was told to people the characters left messages to tell others. This story gives a strong message to be kind and caring to other especially around Christmas time. Ebeneezer Scrooge, shows this at the end of the story when he gives a big turkey to Bob Cratchit and his family.
There where multiple reasons he was inspired to write but one was the education for the poor. He saw how people were being mistreated and he hope writing about it would make people want to stop. Another reason that he decided to write was because in factories there was abuse towards women and children and he did not think that this was okay.
