Hello Middleton Families,
I’m Nahrain Behnam, your EL (English Language) teacher at Middleton Elementary! Before joining this amazing community, I spent over 4 years in public schools and 15 years in private education. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Teaching, with a minor in Sociology, from Northeastern Illinois University. I also hold endorsements in English, History, Science, Assyrian Bilingual, and English Language. In the winter of 2023, I proudly completed my Master’s in English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education.
I’m a proud Chicagoan, born on the Northside, and a product of the vibrant Albany Park community. As an Assyrian/American, I stay deeply connected to both the Assyrian and Chaldean communities, where I’m actively involved in teaching and directing various programs. But my most cherished role is being a mom to two amazing kids. When we’re not in school, we love exploring the city, visiting family, and staying active together.
My goal here at Middleton is to make a positive impact on every child’s life, just as I know they will on mine. I’m so grateful to call Middleton Elementary my new home!
As Albert Einstein wisely said, “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”
Warmly,
Mrs. Behnam
