There are several programs in the district that fall within the greater ROAMS umbrella, all of which seek to enhance student engagement in school through adventure activities. The programs that operate under the ROAMS umbrella have a unique and ongoing relationship with each other with regular communication, collaboration, teamwork, and shared equipment resources.
Here is a brief overview of each of the programs offered. Check out the links below for more detail specific to each program.
Outdoor Pursuits: year-long blend of academics and outdoor education available to students in grade 9 at Ballenas.
Global ROAMS: a semester long blend of academics and outdoor education available to students in grades 10-12. Class composition is a mix of Canadian and International students. There are two cohorts, one at Ballenas during the fall semester and another at Kwalikum during the Spring semester.
ROAMS: a semester long program, entirely experiential outdoor education, available to Grade 11 and 12 students (aged 16 and up) in SD69. Designed for students that are new to the selected activities or already performing at a higher level. A main focus of this program is gaining certifications and experiences that students can use to work in the outdoor industry after high school.
TREC: Tourism, Recreation, Environment, and Community connections. This program is available to high school students at PASS.
