SD69 OUTDOOR PROGRAMMING

About ROAMS

Rivers, Oceans, and Mountains School (ROAMS) is an outdoor leadership program which focuses on career preparation, work experience, adventure education and community leadership in School District 69. There are several programs in the district that fall within the greater ROAMS umbrella, all of which seek to enhance student engagement in school through adventure activities. The programs that operate under the ROAMS umbrella have a unique and ongoing relationship with each other with regular communication, collaboration, teamwork, and shared equipment resources.

Students must apply to enter these specialized programs and academies, and will be accepted based on a combination of the quality of their applications, interviews, teacher references, and "best fit" for the programs. These programs all have a fee associated with them, but please don't let that deter you or your student from applying if you are under financial strain. Financial assistance is available for students in need.

ROAMS is an incredibly unique program in terms of qualified instructors, resources, leadership opportunities for students, and outdoor education opportunities for youth. It is one of the most comprehensive outdoor education programs in Canada. ROAMS has the power to impart positive change in development of strong student leaders, a sense of community and belonging, physical, mental, and emotional growth through outdoor adventure activities.
