Here, you will learn the essentials on how to use a camera and then learn how to manage, edit and print your digital images using professional level software. Through a handful of lectures, demos, a few videos and various assignments, we cover the fundamentals of camera equipment, improve our shooting and become stronger creatively. We touch on the business of photography, learn how to buy gear and have a quick look at the history of photography.
Other than the shooting assignments, everything is designed to be accomplished while in class.
Students will ultimately produce a portfolio of work that will be of value to any post-secondary institution or to promote their work to potential clients.

We will print images may also offer the option to shoot 35mm film! We may do some basic video shooting/editing using Adobe Premiere, having video skills is increasing relevant for photographers these days.
Note: Do you take Photo 11 if you have taken Photo 10? For most students, the answer will be no because their time tables/academic goals may only allow for two photography courses. Therefore, chances are you would enrol in Photo 12. If you took Photo 11, it simply allows the second of three times you can get credit for taking photography. If you have taken photo 10 - Photo 11 would be taught like Photo 12. This allows for a customized course with set of goals and outcomes decided upon yourself and the teacher.
Photo 12 students will take things a step further, where she/he will build on what they learned from Photo 10 or 11. Through customizing the course, Photo 12 students can create unique shooting assignments and projects so to tailor the course primarily to their individual interests and goals.
More advanced techniques are discovered, like studio flash photography and using a flying drone to shoot images and video. Students will continue building on their editing skills using programs such as: Capture One Pro, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
