In this course students will focus on developing video and audio media while gaining production knowledge, skills and experience. Students will use digital tools (software, cameras, audio equipment) to create digital images, movies, animation, and special effects.
Students will:
Learn and put into practice image development strategies and principles of design.
Plan, create and distribute a short movie or animation including stages of production: pre-production, production, and post-production.
Study, consider and build upon artistic and cultural influences.
Explore career opportunities in the field of media production.
This course is a project-oriented course that requires self-direction, initiative, group cooperation, and individual project management. Extra time spent on projects outside regular class time will be required.
Media Arts 11/12 Media Arts
Media Design 10-12 focuses on developing the knowledge, skills, and attributes students need to respond to media artworks and creating art using media technology. This course places a large emphasis on digital visual graphics, including graphic arts, design, composition, as well as movie and animation production.
Students will:
develop the skills required to use various media arts technologies as tools for visual expression.
examine past and present influences of media arts technology on the arts and society.
develop visual literacy in order to make informed, critical decisions in response to their own and others’ media artworks.
explore career options related to media arts, and develop skills useful in pursuing those options.
This course evolves into a project oriented course that requires group work, self- direction, and initiative. Extra time spent on projects outside regular class time will be required.
