This course is for everyone, even the students who believe they cannot draw or do Art. This is a “myth buster” course where you are encourage to express yourself while learning many techniques that helps you become artists. This course may help you discover an ability you did not know you had in creating Art. There is a place for everyone in this course!
This exciting course builds on the concepts learned in grade 9 but steer you in new directions, allowing you to create unique works of art while developing more advanced techniques and skills.
This is the perfect course for grade 10 students who wish to pick up 4 credits of Fine Arts or for experienced Arts students who wish to expand and develop their own style.
Students will develop and create personally meaningful projects in drawing, painting or sculpture
Areas of art: drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
Students will develop a personal style as well as developing critical skills in art. Students registered in this course will work more independently, have greater flexibility of project choices, and further develop personal imagery.
Students at this level should be able to demonstrate high levels of understanding and completion in the elements and principles of Art in many different media. The students should also be able to arrive at a higher level of self-awareness as artists, have a critical eye for good imagery and be capable of describing creative processes they use in producing Art. This course is also an opportunity for students to prepare for post-secondary Art programs.
In this course we explore the many creative possibilities afforded by the film industries, media and advertising world. We will discover the power of the image and the influence of the artist on the world.
This course is for students who want to expand their creative potential in the 2D dry medium of drawing and wet medium like painting. Students will be pushed deeper into higher skill levels of image making using different dry and wet media, digital, and sculpture. In the course, we also explore the many applications of Art in the work force and post-secondary opportunities. This course also examine the power of the personal, social and political message in Art.
