Re: New Activities Director
Dear Flathead Family,
I would like to introduce myself as the new Activities Director at Flathead High School. I am energized by the opportunity to provide leadership to our school community in this unique fashion. I view the Activities Director position as an integral part of the functioning of a AA high school. This individual has the ability to truly impact the school’s climate and culture, of which are imperative to a student’s high school experience.
Background
Many of you may already know me as I have been an assistant principal at FHS for three years now. I have truly enjoyed being a part of the Flathead Family. The rest of my background includes high school science teacher, football coach, baseball coach, and dean of students. I look forward to working with all of you in this new role that brings character development and life-lessons to our students.
Vision
My vision as Activities Director is to enhance the overall student experience by providing a variety of opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and build lasting relationships. I am committed to creating an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and is encouraged to participate. My vision includes the continual growth and development of student athletes and activities participants. A natural result of their ongoing growth will be an improved work ethic, which I believe is the most determining factor for achieving success in life. Another role of mine will be to continually develop the coaches and programs at Flathead High School. I look forward to enhancing our coaching through regular collaboration while leveraging the diverse expertise and unique strengths within our coaching team.
Collaboration
Collaboration is a pillar in the success of our activities program. I am eager to work closely with students, staff, parents, and the community to ensure that our activities reflect the values and needs of our school community. Together, we can create memorable experiences that will enrich our school culture while also developing intangible traits that are difficult to develop in other places. In order to do so, I would like your feedback as to what you, as a parent/guardian, are wanting from the activities program. Please take a moment to complete this very short survey. It will help guide my work, as well as our coaches/directors/advisors, at Flathead High School.
Family Engagement
In the coming months, we have several exciting events planned, including our Fall Activities Parent Meeting (Aug. 14), Brave Welcome (Aug. 21), and Homecoming Week (Sept. 16-21). We have a number of parent groups that help support the daily functions of Flathead High, including the FHS Parent Group and FHS Booster Club. Both groups are so helpful with their support of students and staff. I encourage everyone to get involved, share ideas, and join in the fun this coming school year.
Closing Remarks
My concluding thoughts are this: The Flathead Family deserves the best. Our students and staff are wonderful individuals, and collectively they make for a positive educational experience. I am committed to working hard to enhance the activities program, ensuring it reflects the excellence and dedication that defines our community.
